Objectives

  1. Vision: Endeavors to achieve excellence in teaching and research for outreach to community, industry and institutions to ensure promotive health for all.
  2. Objectives:
    • Training professionals in the field of Food and Nutrition with specialization in Therapeutic Nutrition,Public Health Nutrition, Institutional Food Management & Dietetics and Food Science & Processing
    • Conducting research and extension work in these areas of specialization.
  3. Growth & Milestoness
    • 1958: Master's degree in Food and Nutrition introduced.
    • 1959: Food and Nutrition block built.
    • 1972: Post-graduate Diploma in Dietetics and Public Health Nutrition introduced.
    • 1983: Silver jubilee of Food & Nutrition Department.
    • 1998: Silver Jubilee Diploma in Dietetics and Public Health Nutrition (DDPHN).
    • 2002: State of art Saroja Nutrition Studio inaugurated.
    • 2008: Golden Jubilee of Food & Nutrition Department.
    • 2014: Center of Post Graduate Studies (Food and Nutrition, Ground Floor) was inaugurated by Governing Body Lady Irwin College
    • 2013-2017: B. Tech. Food Technology (Four Year Under Graduate Program) was introduced and successfully completed
    • 2017: Sushma Kashyap Culinary Science Laboratory was inaugurated.
    • 2017: B.Sc. (H) Food Technology program was introduced.
    • 2018: Department is recognised as “National Centre of Excellence and Advanced Research on Diets” (2018), Technical support unit for Maternal Health Division, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, GoI supported by UNICEF
