The department was started in the year 1964 as the department of Community Resource
Management and Extension. Since its inception it has been an amalgamation of two
streams of Home-Science namely Resource Management and Extension. With the revision
of masters curriculum in 2007, consequent to the revision of under graduate curriculum in
2004, the two respective streams of specializations were bifurcated and started as separate
masters programmes. One of these streams was christened the Department of Resource
Management and Design Application (RMDA).
This two year masters programme in RMDA is a composite course focusing on
the management of various resources human, material and natural. It deals with
the integration of these resources with design functions of interior and exterior
spaces and product and event design.
The third and fourth semester have courses leading to the following specializations -
Product and Space Design
Environmental Management and Sustainable Development
Training and Development
Maximun two specializations are offered in these semesters.
