Alumni Speak

  • My journey in sustainability and management began at Lady Irwin College, where I pursued the Environment Management and Sustainable Development course at the Department of Resource Management & Design Application. This program was more than just an academic experience—it was a foundation that shaped my analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and real-world application of sustainability concepts. The course curriculum, combined with the invaluable guidance from faculty, helped me develop a strong understanding of environmental frameworks, corporate responsibility, and sustainable business strategies. The exposure I received during my time at college opened doors to incredible opportunities in the industry. I have had the privilege of working with some of the leading firms in sustainability and consulting, including CDP, EY, and Bain & Company. Each role has reinforced the core values and skills I gained during my time at college. The ability to integrate sustainability with business strategy, think critically, and adapt to dynamic industry needs is something I owe to my education. For aspiring students looking to make an impact in the field, this program not only builds knowledge but also empowers individuals to drive meaningful change in the corporate world.

  • My journey in leadership, advocacy, and rights-based work was deeply shaped by my time at the Department of Development Communication and Extension (DCE), Lady Irwin College, University of Delhi. Studying at DCE was more than an academic experience—it was a space that challenged me to think critically, engage deeply, and apply communication as a tool for social transformation. The department provided me with a strong foundation in participatory communication, gender justice, and community-led development, while also equipping me with essential management, strategy, and leadership skills that I carry into my work every day. From research to program implementation, policy advocacy to movement-building, I constantly draw upon the interdisciplinary learning and rights-based perspectives I gained at DCE. Today, as a leader in the global development and feminist advocacy space, I see the impact of those early lessons in every space I work in—whether shaping strategies, driving systemic change, or fostering intergenerational leadership. DCE was not just where I learned; it was where I practiced, experimented, and grew into the professional I am today.”

  • Forever I shall be indebted to my alma maters. Lady Irwin College, where I spent 5 years, 3 for graduation and 2 for post-graduation in Textiles and clothing, is dearest to me! Not only did my faculty push me to work hard, and move out from the comfort zones, but they also instilled a sense of duty and empathy for the artisans / handloom weavers. Values of honesty, patriotism and integrity were embedded in all that we did. The passion for outreach and for working with humility can all be credited to the wonderful faculty members and the peers at Lady Irwin. Seth Ram Lal hall, where portraits of Sarojini Naidu, Kamladevi Chattopadyay and other illustrious women including past directors were displayed was my favourite place for inspiration. I owe it Lady Irwin college that it has moulded me as a person, as who I am.”
